Olivia Culpo, Miss Estados Unidos, foi coroada Miss Universo 2012, nesta quarta-feira, no Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, em Las Vegas

Culpo venceu outras 88 concorrentes. Miss Filipinas ficou em segundo lugar, Miss Venezuela em terceiro, Miss Austrália em quarto e, finalmente, Miss Brasil foi a quinta colocada.
Após quinze anos de "jejum" - nenhuma americana ganhou o concurso desde 1997 - Olivia Culpo de Rhode Island recebe a cobiçada tiara de Miss Universo.
Culpo ganhou o Miss EUA em junho, em parte, enfatizando a importância da educação musical. Violoncelista desde os 13 anos, Culpo já se apresentou no Boston Symphony Hall e no Carnegie Hall, em Nova York. Pra variar, ela chorou quando as outras concorrentes colocaram a coroa na sua cabeça durante o evento televisionado em Las Vegas.
